Position Requirements

Major Duties

  • Assist in the building of National’s consulting branches with a primary focus on SR&ED.
  • Develop relationships, strategies and processes to help coordinate R&D Tax efforts on a corporate level.
  • Develop a process to raise the profile and understanding of the SR&ED process in order to maximize the claims made by a client.
  • Assist business units with developing accruals based on research and projections.
  • Maintain SR&ED procedures with the organization.
  • Ensure client financial deadlines are met.
  • Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the company Code of Business Conduct.
  • Adhere to all health and safety rules and procedures.
  • Provide administrative support to Manufacturing and IT SR&ED specialists.

Tax Manager - SR&ED

We are currently looking for an experienced Accountant to deliver first-rate advisory services to our clients. We offer an excellent opportunity for a talented Accountant to play a key role in our rapidly growing and dynamic SR&ED and accounting practice. Either individually or as part of a team, you will be interacting regularly with clients at the forefront of technology.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare client financial statements.
  • Prepare draft tax returns from financial statements (T2, T661, and related forms).
  • Help clients draft financial documents in order to obtain their tax benefits and achieve business goals.
  • Keep abreast of current and emerging income tax developments and explain their impact to clients.
  • Provide creative solutions to problems and develop practical plans for their completion.
  • Maintain regular contact with current clients to identify and communicate service opportunities.
  • Organize, prepare, and clearly present information to others and respond to their questions in one-on-one and group situations.
  • Other accounting duties as required.

To Qualify Candidates Must Have:

  • An accounting degree and an accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA, CGA) strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with the SR&ED program would be a very strong asset.
  • MS Excel skills (particularly: Pivot Tables, V-lookups).
  • Be familiar with tax and accounting software: Profile, Taxprep, and QuickBooks.
  • Excellent managerial, organizational, and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Valid Driver’s License

SR&ED Specialist - Financial

We are currently looking for a graduate from an Accounting program to deliver first-rate advisory services to our clients. We offer an excellent opportunity for a talented Specialist to play a key role in our rapidly growing and dynamic SR&ED practice. Either individually or as part of a team, you will be interacting regularly with clients at the forefront of technology.

SR&ED Specialist - Manufacturing

  • Performs a wide variety of engineering and technological analysis of various manufacturing systems, in effort to support to scientific research and experimental development (SR & ED) tax credits being claimed for a given company.
  • Develop relationships, strategies and processes to coordinate SRED efforts on a corporate level.
  • Develop a process to raise the profile and understanding of the SR&ED process in order to maximize the claims made by the company.
  • Identify and capture unexercised tax credit opportunities.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Document research and development activities as per company procedures.
  • Assist, prepare and review SR&ED technical documentation as specified by Government guidelines.
  • Analyze engineering drawings, and specifications in support of the claims.
  • Liaison with in-house technical and engineering staff to obtain information for the technical write-ups.
  • Assist in preparing detailed accounting summaries for the SR&ED tax credits.
  • Keeping abreast of changes in the SRED program.
  • Assist business units with developing accruals based on research and projections.
  • Participation in government audits.
  • Maintain SR&ED procedures with the organization
  • Adhere to company financial deadlines for cutoff at month end.
  • Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the company Code of Business Conduct.
  • Adhere to all health and safety rules and procedures.

Candidate Qualifications

  • A post secondary Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline. A strong background in business, accounting or finance or equivalent business experience would be an asset.

Experience

  • Experience in a fast paced mechanical design office environment including the ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
  • Experience with creating SR&ED technical documentation.
  • Must be able to read and understand engineering drawings.
  • Must have a strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to understand and document the function of mechanical devices.
  • Knowledge of standard office applications like MS Word, and Excel is imperative as working within a PC environment is a must.
  • Knowledge of database applications would be an asset.
  • Must be a self starter with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Individual must be able to fluently speak, read and write in English.
  • Strong interpersonal skills coupled with the ability to develop and foster relationships.

SR&ED Specialist – IT
